Meet Rescue
Rescue was the first horse that we saved. He is a Standardbred and has had quite a life. He was used for racing and then retired and spent the bulk of his time with the Amish pulling buggies. He is a sweet and gentle soul, and the reason we continued on the path we are on.
Goose was our second rescue and is also a Standardbred. He is our gentle giant at nearly 17.2 Hands. He is the youngest of our horses, and his back story is somewhat still unknown. He was born in Canada and his registered name on paper is "Candian Art". He was a race horse, but that's where our history stops. We are not sure where he went after racing, but much like Rescue he found himself in a desperate spot preparing to board a trailer which would ship for slaughter.
*Banks*
Banks is our special senior member of the group. He is a very unique breed of horse, a Zangersheide, which is a Belgium warmblood sport horse. His history is also somewhat unknown as he was rescued from a farm that could no longer care for him. At one point he was a very proud and well-trained horse used in jumping and dressage. He may be old but he still knows what he's doing and frankly more than we do. He is also very friendly and curious and has no problem sticking his head into something your working on to try and lend a hand...or a hoof.
*Bunny*
Bunny or Spicy Bunny is our most recent rescue. You guessed it, she's also a Standardbred. See the pattern yet? She comes to us from the same networker that Goose came from. She is the only mare on property, but she holds her own with her brothers.
*Sunshine*
You may have noticed that Sunshine isn't a horse, but he's still a rescue! Sunshine is our Livestock Guardian Cat. He lives in the barn and protects his chickens and ducks from our dogs or any other animals that come around. He is the sweetest cat, but not when he's working. He takes his job very seriously and protects his friends, yet follows you around demanding head scratches. Keep your eye out for Sunshine, you can't miss him!
